Magna-Mike Thickness Gauge FlashCable® Gage Interface

Sends Data to our GageMux® or other Digimatic devices

This FlashCable® gage interface is engineered to change the output on the Panametrics Magna-Mike Model 8000 Thickness Gauge to an output in a Digimatic format. The special 25-Pin female connector on the Advanced Systems & Designs FlashCable® gage interface connects directly to the 25-Pin male connector on the Panametrics Magna-Mike 8000 Thickness Gauge. Designed to work with our GageMux® gage interface or other similar devices that recognize the Mitutoyo Digimatic signal.

The FlashCable® gage interface does not obtain any power from the gage. When connected to the GageMux®, pin 9 of the 10-pin input port provides the power to the FlashCable® gage interface. If using devices other than the GageMux®, make sure pin 9 of the 10-pin connector provides a 5VDC supply to theFlashCable®. When the FlashCable® gage interface is connected to the GageMux®, the LED on the FlashCable® turns GREEN. This indicates that the FlashCable® gage interface is properly connected. The LED turns RED when the data is being sent or a data request is triggered.

The data transfer can be triggered using any of the following methods:

  • Using the data send button on the Panametrics Magna-Mike Model 8000 Thickness Gauge, if it has one
  • Using our 300-1S in-line handswitch
  • Using a Footswitch on the FlashCable® (not included)
  • Using the Footswitch on the GageMux® USB (or equivalent triggering method on similar devices
  • Sending a gage read command from the computer to the gage

A detailed operation manual is included with this FlashCable® gage interface. The communication parameters can be changed and reconfigured per requirements for both theFlashCable® and the Panametrics Magna-Mike Model 8000 Thickness Gauge. Advanced Systems & Designs sets the FlashCable® gage interface to the default settings on the Panametrics Magna-Mike Model 8000 Thickness Gauge. Make sure both are set to the same values. Refer to the Panametrics Magna-Mike user manual for more information on external communication.
