Mitutoyo 500 Series Caliper Gage SmartCable™ USB Interface
Sends data to SPC data collection programs
The Mitutoyo 500 Series Caliper Gage is connected to the SmartCable™ USB gage interface using the standard gage connector. This SmartCable™ USB gage interface connects the Mitutoyo 500 Series Absolute Caliper Gage to the USB port on the computer. This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB will allow the Mitutoyo 500 Series Caliper Gage to be detected as a COM port (or virtual Com Port) and send inspection data to communication and terminal emulation programs (i.e. HyperTerminal) or any SPC data collection software program.
NOTE: This SmartCable™ USB gage interface will NOT send data directly to a spreadsheet program such as Excel without using a separate software wedge. Please see our SmartCable™ Keyboard (600-520-KB-USB) gage interface if you want to send data directly to Excel.
The output of the SmartCable™ USB gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 COM port signal and the USB connection provides power to the interface. The Mitutoyo 500 Series Caliper Gage cannot obtain power from the SmartCable™ USB---the gage requires a separate power supply (batteries) of its own.
Readings can be triggered by any of the following:

Pressing the button on the SmartCable™ USB gage interface.

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

Pressing the send button on the Mitutoyo 500 Series Caliper Gage Cable Connection

Sending a gage read command from the external computer to the SmartCable™ USB gage interface
This SmartCable™ USB gage interface is capable of sending data in several modes: read only, continuous, continuous with delay, disable pushbutton, and others. A detailed operation manual is included with this Advanced Systems and Designs SmartCable™ USB gage interface.
