    Product Description

    Panametrics MagnaMike 8500 Digimatic FlashCable®

    The Advanced Systems and Designs FlashCable® is engineered to change the output on the Panametrics MagnaMike 8500 Thickness Gage to an 10-pin output in a Mitutoyo Digimatic format. Using a high-quality 6-pin connector, this FlashCable® is designed to work with our GageMux® or other SPC data acquisition systems that recognize the Mitutoyo Digimatic signal. The FlashCable® does not obtain any power from the gage. When connected to the GageMux®, pin 9 of the 10-pin input port provides the power to the FlashCable®. If using devices, other than the GageMux®, make sure pin 9 of the 10-pin connector provides a 5VDC supply to the FlashCable.

    Data transfer can be triggered using any of the following methods:

    • Using the data send button on the gage, if it has one
    • Using our 300-1S in-line handswitch
    • Using the Footswitch on the GageMux® (or equivalent triggering method on similar devices
    • Sending a gage read command from the computer to the GageMux®

    A detailed operation manual is included with this FlashCable®. The communication parameters can be changed and reconfigured per requirements for both the FlashCable® and the Panametrics MagnaMike 8500 Thickness Gage. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the FlashCable® to the default settings on the MagnaMike 8500 Thickness Gage. Make sure both the Panametrics MagnaMike 8500 Thickness Gage and FlashCable® are set to the same values. Refer to the user manual for more information on external communication.
