This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface connects the Beta LaserMike 183 Laser BenchMike to a computer. Connects the LaserMike 183 BenchMike to the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface using a 25-pin male cable connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal. Connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the SmartCable to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. The SmartCable Keyboard will make the Beta LaserMike 183 readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the send, print or enter button on the Beta LaserMike BenchMike, if it has one

Pressing the button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)
A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. The communication parameters can be changed and reconfigured per requirements for both the SmartCable and the Beta LaserMike 183. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the Beta LaserMike 183 Laser BenchMike. Make sure both the SmartCable gage interface and Beta LaserMike 183 are set to the same values. Refer to the Beta LaserMike 183 Laser BenchMike user manual for more information on external communication.
Simple to set-up and use!
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable™ gage interface. This SmartCable™ Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws. A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable™ Keyboard. Six foot overall cable length.
