Connect the Mettler Toledo B Balance Line Electronic Balance to a computer using this Advanced Systems and Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface. This ASDQMS SmartCable™ connects to the Mettler Toledo AB/PB/SB Series Balance using a DB9 male cable connector---no additional cables required.
The output of the Advanced Systems and Designs SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal. Connecting the SmartCable™ USB Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the Mettler Toledo B balance to be identified as a keyboard device that allows it to send keystroke data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required.
The ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard will make the Mettler Toledo B Balance readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or SPC software programs, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear and trigger a reading.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the Print / Transmit button on the Mettler Toledo AB/PB/SB Series Balance

Pressing the button on the ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface. This SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.

A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. By default, Advanced Systems & Designs sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the Mettler Toledo Electronic Balance. Make sure both the ASDQMS SmartCable™ and Mettler Balance are set to the same values. Refer to the Mettler Toledo B Balance Line operating instructions for more information on setting external communication.
