This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface connects the Mahr Federal or Fowler Portable Pocket Surface Roughness Gage to the USB com port a computer. The SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface connects to the Mahr Federal / Fowler Portable Pocket Surf using a special female cable connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will convert the output on the Portable Pocket Surf Roughness Gage to a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. This SmartCable™ Keyboard will make the Mahr Federal or Fowler Portable Pocket Surf Gage readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - helps eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or Explorer based SPC program, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear and trigger the reading. Simple plug and play operation!
The data transfer is automatically triggered after a reading is taken by the gage
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable™ gage interface. This SmartCable™ Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.
Advanced Systems & Designs sets the SmartCable™ USB Keyboard gage interface to the default settings on the Mahr Federal or Fowler Portable Pocket Surf gage. Refer to the Mahr Federal or Fowler Portable Pocket Surf gage user manual for more information on setting external communication. Please advise us of the serial number of gage at time of order.
