Frequently Asked Questions

What is Advanced Systems & Designs?
ASD, a Michigan technology company, has served the manufacturing industry for over years. Whether you require data from single or multiple sources, we will integrate your hardware and software into a seamless SPC solution. For nearly a decade, we have been providing OEM cables and interfaces to major gage manufacturers such as Mahr/Federal and many others.

Why was QMS aquired by ASD?
To ensure our position as the leader in gage interfaces, expand our distribution channels and enhance our product line with proven SPC data collectors.

Where is ASD/QMS now located?
We are now located in Troy, Michigan, in the Metro Detroit Area.

What products does ASD/QMS supply?
We are a leading supplier of roving data collectors and analysis software for real-time SPC information, as well as a range of gage interfaces. As a certified Mitutoyo dealer, we carry a complete line of measuring instruments. If you need a standard or custom cable, interface or our SPC software solutions, we can supply it. Our training and customer support are thorough and inclusive.

What are ASD's long term plans?
To continue development of SPC data collection solutions, develop new interfaces and cables as new gages are introduced, provide support to the distribution channel and solve customer needs. ASD will continue the commitment QMS had to its distributors and customers and will protect the territories of its new distributors.

What industries does ASD serve?
Our customers range from small to large-size manufacturing operations: automotive, aerospace, electronics, pharmaceutical, agribusiness and others.

What databases do you support?
Our easy shop-floor enterprise solution for real-time SPC supports all the main databases including Oracle, MS SQL and Access.

What Design of Experiments methodology do you employ?
We employ Anova-TM (developed by Genichi Taguchi) DOE software. It is an orderly methodical and meaningful procedure for systematically assessing experimental results when a variety of factors dynamically effects a specific quality characteristic.

What tools do you offer programmers for SPC customizing?
We provide ActiveX and SPC 1+ components for those wishing to have complete control over their own applications. We encourage you to create your own user interface and integrate SPC into your existing corporate application. Our tools work with Visual Basic, C++ and any program accepting ActiveX controls.

What makes ASD/QMS different from all other vendors?
We develop solutions based on your specific needs. Additionally, we allow you to mix and match the best products on the market using our open platform.

How do your products interface with other data collection equipment?
Our interfaces connect to all gages and software. The 2, 4, and 8 port inputs of the GageMux can be daisy chained up to 64 inputs. Our SmartCable interface connects any digital gage, caliper, LVDT and analog probe to RS232 or Mitutoyo output format.

What are your websites?
We currently operate and maintain SPCAnywhere.com (this site), the ASD/QMS website, QMSCorporation.com, the website for Quality Measurement Systems, and GageMux.com, a website focusing on our gage interfaces. We also have shop.spcanywhere.com, a site where customers can buy our products online.
