SmartCable™ Keyboard for Ohaus Trooper Scale
Send data directly to Excel---No Software Wedge Required
The Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB Keyboard, featuring a single gage interface, seamlessly connects the Ohaus Trooper Scale to a computer. It uses a 9-pin male cable connector to link the Ohaus Trooper to the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface, with no additional cables needed. The output is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
When connected to a computer, the ASDQMS SmartCable Keyboard gage interface, with its built-in keyboard wedge, is recognized as a keyboard device that can transmit numeric keystroke data to any application without requiring a software wedge. This setup ensures that the Ohaus Trooper Scale readings are inputted as if typed on a standard keyboard, eliminating data collection errors. To collect data in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, simply select the desired cell for the data to appear and trigger a reading.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the send or print button on the Ohaus Trooper Scale

Pressing the button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)
A detailed operation manual is included with this ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable Keyboard to the default settings on the Ohaus Trooper Scale. Make sure both are set to the same values. Refer to the Ohaus user manual for more information on external RS232 communication.
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable™ gage interface. This SmartCable™ Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.
