The Explorer View (select Explorer from the View menu) offers a 'tree view' for managing the database, spreadsheets for viewing or editing data, as well as a variety of charts for single or multiple characteristic analysis. It also provides access to Data Import Wizards for quickly populating your database with historical data.
The main branches of the tree (in the left pane of the window below) coincide with the major areas or functions of the database: User, Privilege, Process (which include the process or part Characteristics), Workset, Analysis (SPC1+ Enterprise Pro product only), Report, Gage and ODBC.
When you double-click on a 'closed' branch (identified with the + symbol), it will 'expand' so that its sub-branches are visible. A second double-click collapses the branch's view. Inactive items are shown in gray font.
Notice that the Process branch contains a list of processes. Most of the "processes" in the window below are actually Part descriptions. We'll see shortly how we can rename the Process branch to "Part", or "Part ID" or anything else that would be a good descriptor for your plant. When the process branch is expanded (such as Pin Shaft in the window below), you can view the Characteristics associated with that part.
