To edit the Pin Shaft Process, we select that Process label from the Process branch, then click the Edit Process right mouse option, opening the Define Process dialog box.
You can set the 20 character Process Name, a 60 character Process Description, the Process Status, and the Characteristics you'll be measuring in the process. Note towards the bottom of the dialog box that edits are automatically logged into the database, so its easy to see who last edited this process and when.
Adding new Processes to the database is just as easy.
The Active status checkbox may be used instead of deleting the item, and has the advantage of easy retrieval of the information in case of mistakes. It is also useful for defining Processes, their Characteristics, and Work Sets before Data Entry personnel can enter data, or once the part is removed from Production.
Once the Process is created, we can use the Define Process dialog box's Add button to define a new Characteristic from scratch, or use the Copy button to create Characteristics from one or more existing Characteristics. The Explorer view's right mouse button also offers Add Characteristic and Copy / Paste Characteristic options.
