Data Entry using a Gage

You may also enter data using gages connected to the Work Station's serial port. Some gages are hooked up directly to the connection, while others may be connected via a multiplexor. Users may quickly change the gage used for data collection using the Choose Gage option in the Chart menu.

A list of the gages that can be connected directly to any of your Comm ports follows:

Generic (Universal) Gage

This option allows for entering of data through the RS-232 serial port by many measurement instruments not listed below (such as scales, PLC, CMM, etc.). The data stream should have data values separated by carriage returns. An option may be set to “Ignore the First n Characters” in the stream, allowing a wide variety of commercially available gages not listed here,
