ASD Selected as ISA 2001 Innovator!
Troy, MI - Advanced Systems & Designs (ASD) was selected by the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Association as an ISA 2001 Innovator. This honor was awarded for ASD’s Micro GageMux®. Before the invention of the Micro GageMux, inspectors either checked the quality of components by hand, writing the results on a clipboard, or trundled a cumbersome computer across the shop-floor. ASD’s Micro GageMux has revolutionized data collection and storage. By converting analog or digital input into a standard serial ASCII RS232 or Mitutoyo signal, it allows users to connect hundreds of different types of measuring devices and gages to an automated data collection system such as a hand-held computer. The Micro GageMux requires no external power supply, making it ideal for wireless roving collectors. Weighing in at just over an ounce, it packs quite a punch for a device slightly bigger than a pack of gum. Paul Mychalowych, ASD’s president, recalls this story. “A major component manufacturer’s quality auditor, while traveling to off-site labs, wanted to take measurements directly from a variety of gages and store the results in an Excel spreadsheet. Our Micro GageMux allowed him to gather data electronically, eliminating human error, and slashed the time it took to audit each lab.” About Advanced Systems & Designs: ASD, a Michigan-based technology company, serves the manufacturing community by integrating hardware and software into a seamless SPC solution. The company has seventeen years’ experience in data-collection applications and integration—a combination of statistical background, product development, integration, training and complete system solutions.
