Some common uses of the Chart Format Options dialog box are to:
· set the title and subtitle and y-axis label
· set decimal places (display only)
· use a column's contents for x-axis label
Note that Spec Lines can only be shown when Individuals data is plotted, such as on an Individual-X / Moving Range chart, or a Process Capability chart. The variation in subgroup averages on an X-bar chart, for example, would be much smaller than specification limits even when individual observations exceeded the specification limits. Since it's an apples to oranges comparison, spec lines should never be viewed on an X-bar chart.
